Kung Fu is More than Kicks, Punches & Earning Belts

It Helps Students Develop Self-Confidence, Awareness, And Respect For One’s Community And Environment.

Early stages of training focus on building a foundation in stances, kicks, hand forms, sequences (forms), padwork, speed, and reaction. Each of the basics have advanced levels and eventually lead to weapons practice including: staff, saber, sword, and more.

When appropriate, students will be encouraged to demonstrate their physical and intellectual understanding of the material by testing within our youth program and the YMAA Shaolin Kung Fu curriculum.

Youth Kung Fu

Students are typically grouped by age and maturity level as it’s most beneficial for them from a learning perspective. Exceptions can be made for the convenience of families with multiple children in the program.

Youth 1 Kung Fu – age 6 to 9
Youth 2 Kung Fu – age 9 to 13

Current classes combine Youth 1 and Youth 2.

Kids Kung Fu

Kids Programs (age 3 – 9) include Kung Fu & Lion Dance. Visit the Kids Programs page for details and pricing.

Have a six-year-old? They fit in both Kids Kung Fu and Youth Kung Fu and the right choice usually comes down to maturity and attention span rather than age.

Try Kids Kung Fu first if your child is new to structured classes. Either way, we’ll ask you to do a trial class in Youth Kung Fu before enrolling so you can see the difference for yourself.
